Electronic and Electrical Engineering

The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering was established in the College of Natural Sciences in 1994. The department has been a major part of the College of Engineering since the college was founded in 1996 as the first College of Engineering of women's university.

Up to the present, electronic and electrical engineering has played a key role in laying a foundation for South Korea's economic growth and industrialization. Today, South Korea is at the forefront of technological innovations in many fields including information and communication technologies.

The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Ewha Womans University provides intensive education in the fields including network and communication systems, image and signal processing, semiconductor devices and circuit design, bioelectronics, power and controls, to foster key female engineering professionals for the 21st century driven by the information and communication technologies. Next generation of electronic and electrical engineering will become more and more female-friendly as the technological innovation in these fields calls not only for academic excellence, but also for human sensibility and creativity as fundamental building blocks.

The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering is receiving a wide range of support for research and academic activities from the government and industry through a variety of academic-industrial cooperation programs and government-funded research and education programs. Faculties and research associates at the department are performing cutting edge research and education in the fields of electronic and electrical engineering, nanotechnology (NT), and biotechnology (BT). Faculties are fully committed to nurturing internationally competitive women engineers through various research projects and international exchange programs. Graduates of the department are significantly contributing to the development of next generation technologies as members of various domestic and foreign enterprises, government-funded research institutes, and renowned graduate schools including Ewha.
