The world’s first college of engineering for women! The leading college of engineering that trains female professional engineers!
Ewha Womans University founded the world’s first engineering college for women in 1996 with the expectation that the Ewha spirit of insightfulness, compassion, adaptability, deftness, and creativity would make a significant contribution to science and technology, and with the aim of producing the world’s best female engineers. The College of Engineering of Ewha Womans University started out with four majors in Computer Science & Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Architecture, and Environmental Science & Engineering, and added Architectural Engineering and Food Science & Engineering majors in 2006, the Department of Atmospheric Science and Engineering at the graduate school in 2012, and Chemical Engineering and Materials Science major under the Division of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science in 2015. Currently, there are 1,400 undergraduates and 170 graduate students of eight different majors enrolled at the Engineering College.

The College of Engineering of Ewha Womans University has spared no investment and support in order to achieve the educational goal of fostering creative, well-rounded leaders among of the global female engineer community. The College of Engineering launched a differentiated engineering education program by establishing the Center for Innovation in Engineering Education in 2006 and worked hard to introduce the “Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea (ABEEK)” program for a more in-depth engineering education. As a result, five departments (Computer Science & Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Science & Engineering, and Food Science & Engineering) earned the ABEEK accreditation in 2010 and 2012. The College of Engineering also achieved excellent results from the visiting assessment of Next General Review (NRG) conducted in 2014. The Department of Architecture introduced an accreditation program for its architectural education program and received the best five-year accreditation in 2011. The College of Engineering was also selected for government-run large scale education programs such as Engineering Education Innovation Center Assistance Program and Seoul Accord Funding Program in 2012, which has made it possible for the College of Engineering to secure funds to carry forward a wide range of innovative engineering education programs for the next seven to ten years.

In addition, the College of Engineering is actively running Ewha Womans University’s specialized university-industry collaboration programs such as the “academic-professional recruitment scholarship” and “construction quotation practicum.” By operating an intensive education program on the Capstone Design curriculum, which reflects the demands from the industry, Korea’s best engineering college for women laid the foundation for cooperating with businesses in training a new generation of talented engineers with excellent professional experience in the field. Plus, Enbox, a talent donation club at the College of Engineering, received accreditation as an excellent club from the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity for the achievement of delivering engineering education to Cambodia. The meetings with foreign students are held annually in order to promote communication and solidarity among foreign students at the College of Engineering, thereby facilitating international exchanges.

The University-Industry Collaboration Building, completed in April 2014, is expected to create a synergy effect of a convergence model of engineering education and academic-industry cooperation as a foothold for global research network.
The College of Engineering has grown with Science Ewha’s 130-year history and tradition as its support and standard. To build a reputation and set the pace as the world’s first engineering college for women, it has devoted itself to practical and wholehearted investment and support to ensure an effective engineering education. The College of Engineering offers the most competitive program to achieve the educational goal of fostering creative, well-rounded leaders among of the global female engineer community.
All professors and students at the College of Engineering of Ewha Womans University will work hard together to make this institution one of the greatest engineering colleges in the world. We appreciate your encouragement and generous interest in the development of the College of Engineering of Ewha Womans University.
