Overview for International Students
Bishop’s University is a public Canadian university founded in 1843 and located in Sherbrooke, Québec, about 1.5 hours from Montreal. With roughly 3,000 students, it offers a close-knit academic environment with small classes and strong faculty– student interaction.
Computer Science Programs
Bachelor of Computer Science
• Duration: 3–4 years (120 credits)
• Options: Honours, Major, or Concentration
Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science
• Duration: about 2 years (45 credits)
• Streams: Thesis-based (research), Course-based, or Internship (available starting Fall 2026)
The department is small (seven full-time faculty members), allowing close supervision and early research involvement. Research areas include artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, distributed systems, machine learning, computer vision, and high-performance computing. Graduates pursue careers in software development, AI, cybersecurity, and systems engineering, or continue to doctoral studies.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or a related field (IT, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics) with a minimum average of 70%. Exceptional students from other quantitative fields (business, finance, biology, etc.) may also apply.
International students may need proof of English proficiency (such as IELTS or TOEFL).

Admissions decisions are typically issued within 2–4 weeks.
Study Permit Process (International Students)
After admission, students must obtain two immigration documents:
1. CAQ (Québec Acceptance Certificate) from the Québec government
2. Canadian Study Permit from the Government of Canada
Processing typically takes 5–16 weeks, so students should apply early.
Tuition (International Students)
Estimated graduate tuition:
• Thesis-based: about $20,500 CAD per year
• Course-based: about $27,630 CAD per year
Competitive scholarships are available, mainly for thesis-based students.
