Seung Hee Park, Ph.D is a Professor Emerita of Special Education at Ewha Womans University. She served as a professor for 32 years from 1992-2024. She earned bachelor's degree from Ewha Womans Univ. in 1981 and both master's and doctoral degrees from Syracuse Univ., U.S. in 1991, majoring in intellectual and developmental disabilities(IDD), special education, and disability studies. She was a student of Dr. Burton Blatt and Dr. Wolf Wolfensberger who were great trailblazers and the most influential scholars in the field of IDD. With Korea Research Foundation’s support, she conducted research on inclusive education at Univ. of Cambridge, UK in 2000-2001 and Tokyo Gakugei Univ., Japan in 2007-2008. She has played a leading role in the advancement of inclusive education in S. Korea.

   Park authored books including 『Korean inclusive education: Toward better alignment of special and general education』, 『Quality-indicator based inclusive education: An implementation guide』. She also translated many influential books including four volumes of the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th editions of the 『AAIDD’s Intellectual Disability Manuals』, 『Everyone here spoke sign language: Hereditary deafness on Martha's Vineyard』, 『Introducing disability studies』,『Undoing ableism: Teaching about disability in K-12 classrooms』. 『Lives and legacies of people with intellectual disability』. She has also published over 150 research papers related to special education and IDD.

   Park has developed and taught the “Disability & Society” course since 2013 as the first liberal arts class introducing Disability Studies in Korea. Park has operated the nation’s first college-based postsecondary and lifelong education program for adults with IDD, named as E-ACOLA since 2001 and initiated the first supported employment of individuals with IDD at Ewha Womans Univ. in 2009 as the nation’s first demonstration project at university settings and has continued her commitment to this day. Park served as the president of Korean Society of Special Education from 2018 to 2020. Park received the ‘AAIDD 2022 International Award’ as the first Korean scholar at the AAIDD 146th Annual Conference, Jacksonville, Florida.
