Development of Pharmaceutical Care in Sports Medicine

A research team led by Professor Jeong Yeon Rhie at the College of Pharmacy published the article entitled ‘Pharmacy services at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games’ in the British Journal of Sports Medicine (IF 11.645, the 1st of the JCR rank). 

The research team showed that the pharmaceutical care program during the Games was beneficial in managing athletes’ physical and mental health at the competition. Moreover, the pharmacovigilance activity was indicated to help preventing the spread of disease among athletes.

Professor Rhie suggested that pharmacy professionals should understand athletes’ demands on the proper use of medications and anti-doping policies, including the therapeutic use exemption and needle policy, to further achieve positive outcomes from the pharmaceutical care program in Sports.
