Prof. Hwang's lab published research article entitled "TAZ couples Hippo/Wnt signalling and insulin sensitivity through Irs1 expression" in Nature Communications, which was conducted by Hyo Kyeong Kim and Hana Jeong under collaboration with Prof. Hong's lab in Korea University.

This work identifies TAZ as a potential beneficial regulator for controlling insulin resistance through regulation of Irs1 in muscle. As TAZ deficiency in muscle tissues impairs insulin sensitivity in animal model, TAZ is believed to be essential for modulating glucose homeostasis in muscle tissues and important for preventing from diabetes development.
