" Because I am a male, many people have asked me why I came to Ewha Womans University for this summer program. Besides the beautiful campus and students, I came to the Ewha International Summer College to learn the Korean language and to learn more about contemporary Korea.
At first, I thought that 2 weeks would be plenty of time. However, the past 2 weeks have flown by faster than the motorcycles in the Korean movie 퀵(Quick) ; after all, time flies when you are having fun. During the 2 weeks, I have experienced and learned so much more than I could have ever expected. For example, I love Korean food, and I enjoyed learning how to make very delicious 떡(rice cake) in Andong and kimchi and ddobukki at Kimchi World.
My time at Ewha and my exposure to Korea has laid a solid foundation and appreciation for the country on which I will continue to build for the rest of my life. I am very thankful to the teachers of my language class forr channeling my desire to learn 한글 into very informative lectures and activities. My time here has also allowed me to be exposed to K— pop. I usually listen to classical music because I play violin, but now I`m starting to like Korean girl groups like 2NE l and 소 녀 시 대 for their adventurous combinations in genre and theme...and because they are cute.
I also enjoyed our many Πeld trips to such places as 경복궁 and the National Museum .
Our field trip to Andong taught me that I am way too tall for a Korean. My legs are too long and make sitting on the floor during meals barely tolerable, and I had to duck through the doors of the traditional Korean house where we had stayed at. Fortunately, the many friends I have made at Ewha made everything better.
I am so sad that my stay in Korea is over , but I arn so glad to have I met so many great people and to have made so many memories.
I would like to thank Kwon Soyoung, Jennifer Kim, the Offlce of Global Affairs, and Ewha Womans University for making this wonderful program possible."
